Jowee Omicil is an accomplished musician, a sax virtuoso, as well as a composer, producer and educator. His sound was influenced by Sonny Rollins as well as many other jazz greats such as Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
An alumnus of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where he majored in Music Education, Jowee Omicil brings to his craft, innovation and a new development in the music that he creates. He later continued his studies at the Thelonius Monk Institute, where he was among the 20 "hand-picked" students around the US and was featured on BET Jazz.
He's been on stage with great jazz musicians such as Branford Marsalis, Marcus Miller and Kenny Garrett. His style is inspired by all sorts of music, like Konpa, blues, funk or gospel. His Haitian roots are ever-present in his style that shows some infectious happiness. Recently, he's released a new album called “Naked”, another jewel in his musical career. He’ll be featured in Tabou Combo’ concert.
